The Firm

Quarles & Brady has been rated #1 in the Yale Law Women (YLW) 2nd Annual Top Ten Family-Friendly Law Firms.

In the book Presumed Equal: What America's Top Women Lawyer Really Think About Their Firms, Quarles & Brady was ranked #1 in Milwaukee and #14 nationally out of 105 law firms.

Quarles & Brady was honored as the Corporate Achiever at the 2008 Diversity Achievers Breakfast by the Boy Scouts of America. The Diversity Achiever Awards are presented to an individual, a corporation and a community partner that best exemplify the values of Scouting while endeavoring to raise the levels of diversity awareness within the Milwaukee Community.

In the 2007/2008 Edition of the Vault Guide to the Top 100 Law Firms, Quarles & Brady was ranked #17 - Best Firms for Diversity and #10 Best in Diversity with Respect to Women.

In the 2007/2008 Edition of the Vault Guide to the Top 100 Law Firms, Quarles & Brady was ranked #1 nationwide in informal training and mentoring. 

Quarles & Brady was awarded the 2007 Pathfinder Award by Professional Dimensions, the largest business and professional women's organization in Milwaukee. The award was given for the firm's "Women in Leadership Program" diversity initiatives which support and advance women in the firm.

The Chicago office received the Commitment to Diversity Award from Lawyers for Diversity in recognition of the firm's efforts in creating equality for members of the LGBT community and for its overall commitment to diversity.

The Madison office was recognized by the United Way of Dane County for its 2005 Campaign Contributions. The firm earned three awards: the Community Impact Award, the Employee Leadership Award and the Platinum Award.

The Chicago Council for Urban Affairs honored Quarles & Brady with the 2005 Corporate Diversity Award. The purpose of the Award is to recognize and honor companies that have demonstrated a commitment to developing a diverse and inclusive workplace.

The Phoenix office received the 2004 Arizona SHRM (Society of Human Resource Management) Workforce Diversity Award in the small company category.

The Tucson office received the 2004 Workforce Inclusion Award from SHRM-GT and Jobing.com.

Since the Naples Alliance for Children inaugurated the Family Friendly Business Award in 1999, Quarles & Brady has received it every year and is the only business to have received the award seven consecutive years.

The Individuals

John W. Daniels, Jr. is very active in the community and has been recognized many times for his contributions in bringing business, government and community leaders together.

  • John was awarded the Human Relations Award from the National Conference for Community and Justice.
  • 100 Black Men of America Inc. named John one of six National Business Leaders in 2004.
  • John was elected as Corporate Secretary of the Greater Milwaukee Committee, a leading organization of Wisconsin business, labor, academic, philanthropic, nonprofit and civic leaders.
  • In August 2004, a Boys & Girls Club was opened in John Daniels' name called the Daniels-Mardak Boys & Girls Club.
  • In 2007 John received the Distinguished Leader Award from the Thurgood Marshall College Foundation.

Christina D. Hernandez-Malaby was honored with the 2006 Hispanic Professional of the Year Award given by the Hispanic Professionals of Greater Milwaukee.

Katie Perhach was the recipient of the Howard B. Eisenberg Award by Marquette University Law School. The award is given to a MU Law Grad who has provided extraordinary service to his or her community.

Eric Ledbetter has been appointed to a one-year term on the State Bar of Wisconsin's Diversity Outreach Committee.

W. LaNelle Owens is the President of the Arizona Black Bar Association for the 2006-2007 year.

James D. Friedman is a Past President and a Board member of the Equal Justice Fund.

Nicole France Stanton is President of the Women's Metropolitan Arts Council of the Phoenix Art Museum. 

Ellen Girard is President of the Women Everywhere Board of Directors and is Co-Chairing the Women Everywhere Planning Committee for the third year. Ellen was also named in the Chicago Business Journal on the "40 under 40" list.

LaShawn Jenkins has been appointed to the City of Phoenix Human Relations Commission.

Kathryn Buono was named a Women of Influence by the Milwaukee Business Journal in 2006 for her role as a mentor to the young associates, both female and male, within Quarles & Brady.

Janice E. Rodgers was selected by Today's Chicago Women as one of 100 Women Making a Difference and was honored with the Donors Forum of Chicago Mel Tracht Outstanding Volunteer Award (2003). She is a member and past-chair, Alumni Council of the Chicago Foundation for Women.

Susan Boswell was selected as a Lawyer Representative to the Ninth Circuit by the District of Arizona delegation. She was chosen by Inside Tucson Business as one of 10 Women of Influence. Honorees were chosen for their influential roles in both their community and in their careers.

Luis A. Ochoa is a member of the Board of Directors for the William Morris Institute for Justice.

Cory L. Nettles was named in the 2006 Milwaukee Business Journal's "40 under 40" and was honored by the Milwaukee Community Journal.

Sally Merrell is the Chair of the board of the Women's Fund of Greater Milwaukee, Inc. 

Ely Leichtling is the President of the Northwest Side Community Development Corporation. The CDC's mission is to improve the business environment for the low-income communities on the Northwest side of Milwaukee through community economic development.
