Professional Experience
Sara Vinarov is a partner in the Firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. Dr. Vinarov is a registered patent attorney, who specializes in representing clients in the life sciences arena. Prior to joining Quarles & Brady LLP, Dr. Vinarov worked for The Procter & Gamble Company in both their cardio-metabolic division and pharmaceutical/healthcare patent division. She has extensive experience representing universities, research institutions and emerging companies to obtain patents on inventions that are successfully licensed and commercialized around the world. She manages extensive worldwide patent portfolios for clients in a variety of life science (biotechnology, molecular biology, biology and biochemistry) areas. Dr. Vinarov's practice primarily includes:
  • Preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the U.S. and internationally relating to: stem cells, methods/media for maintaining and differentiating stem cells, molecular diagnostics, biomarker assays, gene and protein therapeutics, structural genomics and proteomics, enzymology, microarrays, antibodies, glycobiology, vaccines, carbohydrate chemistry, plant genetic engineering, bio-pulping, prescription drug monitoring, natural antioxidants and use thereof, food preservation and high-throughput drug screening assays.

  • Counseling clients on strategic global patent portfolio management.

  • Counseling clients and preparing opinions in matters pertaining to patentability, infringement, validity and freedom to operate issues.

  • Counseling clients on matters relating to life-science non-disclosure, university joint venture, and licensing agreements.
