Professional Experience
David Strifling practices in the areas of environmental permitting and litigation, including Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, CERCLA and RCRA compliance. Mr. Strifling also contributes to the Firm's appellate practice before the Wisconsin Supreme Court, Wisconsin Court of Appeals, and United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, utilizing his past experience as a law clerk on the Wisconsin Supreme Court (Hon. David T. Prosser) as well as his experience working with other state and federal appellate judges, including Hon. John L. Coffey and Hon. Diane S. Sykes. Before entering the practice of law, Mr. Strifling had five years of experience as a practicing civil and environmental engineer, with an emphasis in water supply management and wastewater conveyance/treatment. His recent experience includes:
- Representing a paper manufacturer at a major sediment site involving cleanup claims and federal, state and tribal natural resource damage claims, including extensive coordination with technical consultants and agency oversight team representatives.
- Working with corporate clients to manage environmental liabilities and permit transfers in acquisitions and divestiture transactions.
- Assisting in representation of paper manufacturer responding to Clean Air Act Section 114 requests.
- Assisting in representation of major waste hauling and disposal company regarding closed landfill sites.
- Representing litigants in cases pending before the Wisconsin Supreme Court and Wisconsin Court of Appeals.
- Assisting corporate client in compliance with DOT regulations associated with startup of charter bus operations in all 50 states.
- Drafting a new solid waste ordinance for a Native American tribe.
