Mike Wokasch is a registered patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is a computer scientist and former software programmer and focuses his practice on information technology and intellectual property transactions.

Licensing / Intellectual Property Transactions. Mike is responsible for counseling clients in negotiating and drafting agreements for the sale and licensing of intellectual property. Mike has participated in the negotiation of contracts and licenses for complex intellectual property transactions, including:

  • Exclusive patent license agreement for current and future technology used to establish a university spin-off company.

  • Long term right of use agreement for county and state institutions in fiber optic cable project.

  • Patent licenses and know-how agreements for large technology transfer offices of public universities.

  • Agreement to acquire the entire intellectual property portfolio for a medical imaging company.

  • Material transfer agreements involving biological and chemical materials including stem cells and proteins.

  • Large custom cellular service telecommunications contract for Fortune 500 company.
  • Multi-million dollar software licensing, development and services contracts for a pharmacy benefits transactional system.

  • Sponsored research agreements on behalf of both research institutions and private companies.

  • Inter-Institutional Agreements between research institutions involving collaborative research and development programs.

  • Consumer and medical records disclosure agreements.

  • Copyright and trademark license agreements.

Intellectual Property Litigation. Mike has been a member of intellectual property litigation teams involving wireless network technology and medical records systems. His experience includes:

  • Assisting in infringement and invalidity analysis in software and computer-related patent infringement cases.
  • Prior art searching for patent infringement and reexamination requests.
  • Assisting in preparing claim constructions.
  • Assisting experts in preparation of expert reports and depositions.

Patent Prosecution. Mike has been involved in patent prosecution on a variety of domestic and foreign applications in a variety of technology fields, including:
