Professional Experience
Andrew Barnes has a business law practice, with an emphasis on commercial financings, out-of-court restructurings and business bankruptcies.
- Mr. Barnes regularly represents borrowers, lenders, agents and others in complex financing transactions, including multicurrency cross-border syndicated loans, asset securitization programs, interest rate protection agreements and other financial transactions.
- Mr. Barnes litigates preferences, fraudulent transfers, cash collateral, post-petition financing agreements, asset sales, executory contract and lease matters, conversion motions, secured and unsecured claims disputes, plan of reorganization and disclosure statement issues, and other matters in bankruptcy courts throughout the United States. Mr. Barnes has extensive experience in workouts and Chapter 11 reorganizations as counsel to secured creditors, unsecured creditors, bond trustees, lenders' syndicate agents, and landlords.
- Mr. Barnes was lead special bankruptcy counsel for APW Ltd. in its successful two-month prepackaged Ch. 11 bankruptcy reorganization of $1.3 billion of assets (2002), lead general bankruptcy counsel for P.A. Bergner & Co. in its successful reorganization of $1.2 billion of assets (1991-1993), and lead general bankruptcy counsel for Prange Way, Inc. in its successful two-month prepackaged Ch. 11 bankruptcy (1995).
