Quarles & Brady Chairman Named Lawyer of the Year by Milwaukee Bar Association
MILWAUKEE, Wis. ─ The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP today announced Chairman John W. Daniels Jr. has been named Lawyer of the Year by the Milwaukee Bar Association. The award will be presented at the Association's 151st Annual Meeting celebrating leaders of the Bar on June 9.
The Lawyer of the Year honor recognizes Daniels for his excellence in bar leadership and efforts to improve the lives of others.
In his legal practice, Daniels focuses on real estate and business transactions, representing some of the largest companies in the nation. He has been at the center of many of Wisconsin's most significant real estate development projects, including the Midtown Mall, the Grand Avenue project, and the redevelopment of both the Midwest Airlines Center and the Bradley Center. His experience extends well beyond the State of Wisconsin, as he has practiced in virtually every major commercial jurisdiction in the country and has served as national president of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, the country's most prestigious group of real estate lawyers.
His accomplishments have been recognized locally and nationally from the many groups he has reached throughout the years. Within the legal community, he was recently named one of the 50 Most Influential Minority Lawyers in America by
The National Law Journal. In March 2009, he was inducted into the National Black Law Student Association Hall of Fame. In July 2008, during its annual conference, the National Bar Association honored Mr. Daniels for his impact on the legal profession and particularly for his impact on civic issues affecting the young.
As a testament to his dedication to the community, the largest Boys & Girls Club in Wisconsin is named in his honor. His tireless community efforts have also been recognized as he has received the Human Relations Award from the National Conferences of Christians and Jews, and the John and Irma Daniels 2008 Humanitarian Award from St. Francis Children's Center. In 2001, Mr. Daniels founded the Fellowship Open golf event, a charity event for the benefit of local organizations that foster and develop character and values among minority youth. This annual event has contributed more than $400,000 to youth activities.
Daniels earned his J.D. degree from Harvard Law School, his M.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin and His B.A. degree from North Central College.
