Quarles & Brady Akbar Re-elected Chair of Arizona State Bar Committee for Persons with Disabilities in the Legal Profession
PHOENIX, ARIZ. — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady is pleased to announce that
Wendy Kemp Akbar has been re-elected to a one-year term as chair of the Arizona State Bar Committee on Persons with Disabilities in the Legal Profession.
Ms. Akbar represents clients in all aspects of complex commercial litigation with a focus on intellectual property litigation, particularly patent litigation, trademark, trade dress and copyright litigation, trade secret, false advertising and licensing disputes. In 2009, she was recognized by the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce as its 2009 Young Professional Athena Award winner. She earned her law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and her
B.A. degree,
with high honors, from Swarthmore College.
The Arizona State Bar is a nonprofit organization that operates under the supervision of the Arizona Supreme Court. It regulates approximately 13,000 active attorneys in Arizona and provides education and development programs for the legal profession and the public. The Persons with Disabilities in the Legal Profession Committee works with courthouses to achieve accessibility to courtrooms and court buildings by persons with mobility, hearing or vision-related disabilities, organizes educational events and mentoring opportunities, and works with the Committee on Minorities and Women in the Law to organize the annual Minority Bar Convention.
