Alyce C. Katayama, Partner

Community Service

Alyce is a caring steward of the community, often in partnership with her long-term clients. The following organizations represent examples of causes in which she has been involved:

The  Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra reaches out to diverse audiences through concert performances and nationally recognized education and outreach programs. All programs are guided by the MSO Family Shared Vision stating that the MSO exists for three purposes: (1) to comfort, educate, entertain, and exhilarate the human soul through events of cultural significance, relevance, and artistic challenge; (2) to embrace, preserve, and foster our musical heritage; and (3) to enhance the vibrancy of our community. Alyce is a director and officer and serves on the Executive, Audit, and Governance Committees, the last of which she chairs. She also served on the Music Director Search Committee and the Merger Task Force, where her skills and experience in consensus building led to the merger of the MSO League, a separate volunteer support group, into the MSO.

As a program of the Milwaukee Women’s Center, the Bottomless Closet’s mission is to provide work-appropriate, gently used clothing and supportive services to men and women entering or re-entering the workforce. Alyce organized this nonprofit corporation, obtained tax-exempt status for it, and served as a director and officer for nine years.

Meta House is dedicated to helping women struggling with drug and alcohol addiction reclaim their lives and rebuild their families. The organization meets the unique needs of women and their children, ending the generational cycle of substance abuse. Alyce served on the board of this organization.
