Professional Experience
Amy Cotton is a member of the Firm’s Health Law Group. As a licensed physical therapist and health care attorney, she has over 12 years experience in the health care industry. Her practice includes advising clients on regulatory and compliance issues, business development and defending clients before professional boards. Amy has experience with the following issues:
- Advising clients regarding compliance with pharmaceutical laws and regulations.
- Providing guidance regarding compliance with HIPAA and state health privacy laws.
- Drafting policies and procedures relating to HIPAA and health care business activities.
- Compliance with Medicaid and Medicare programs and providing guidance regarding audits.
- Successfully representing health care professionals before state regulatory boards.
- Licensing and regulatory compliance.
- Drafting contracts and performing licensing and regulatory diligence for large health care transactions.
- Drafting and negotiating Pharmacy Benefit Management agreements.
- Regulatory compliance with laws relating to Discount Medical Provider Organizations, Pharmacy Benefit Management and Third Party Administration;
- Assistance with FDA and DEA compliance and investigations;
- Development and advising entities regarding electronic prescribing and electronic health records;
- Privacy issues related to clinical trials;
- Development of Medication Therapy Management programs;
- Advising health care clients regarding marketing and business development and drafting marketing agreements;
- Compliance with the Federal Anti-kickback statute.
