Quarles & Brady's Baker Named a Woman of Influence by The Business Journal of Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE, WIS. — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP announced that Jean C. Baker, a partner in the Firm’s Milwaukee office and national chair of the Firm’s Intellectual Property group, has been named a Woman of Influence from
The Business Journal of Milwaukee.
The Women of Influence award profiles Milwaukee-area women who are making a difference in their communities and have influenced their companies or organizations in a positive way. Dr. Baker was selected as a Woman of Influence in the category of “Innovation,” based on her substantive work with scientists, inventors and legal innovators on the cutting edge of technology and intellectual property development. All award recipients will receive their awards at a luncheon on June 10 at the Frontier Airlines Center in Milwaukee.
Dr. Baker practices in the area of patent, trademark and copyright law, with experience in drafting and prosecuting chemical and biotechnological patent applications and patentability and infringement opinions. Her technical background includes practical experience in molecular biology, microbiology and chemistry. She has special expertise in the fields of transgenic micro-organisms, plants, and animals and recombinant DNA techniques, including production and use of modified proteins.
She was honored as one of 2010’s Women in the Law by the
Wisconsin Law Journal, has been listed in
The Best Lawyers in America® consistently since 2005 and
Chambers USA® since 2006. Dr. Baker also serves as a board member of the Intellectual Property Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin and has served as chairperson of the State Bar Intellectual Property Section and as an Adjunct Professor of Patent Law for Marquette University.
Dr. Baker received her J.D. degree,
with honors, from the University of Wisconsin Law School and both her Ph.D. and B.S., in Biochemistry, from the University of Georgia.
