CHICAGO, ILL. — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP announced that Scott A. Bremer has joined the Firm’s Chicago office as a partner in the Public Finance Group.  

“We are excited to welcome Scott to the firm as we continue to strategically expand our capabilities in Chicago and throughout Illinois,” said Ted I. Yi, co-managing partner of the Chicago office. “Scott’s considerable experience serving as bond counsel and working across the spectrum of public finance matters is a significant asset to our strategic growth.”

Mr. Bremer’s arrival represents the latest addition to the Firm’s 22-member public finance practice and the eighth new lateral nationally within the last month.

“I’m delighted to join Quarles & Brady’s preeminent public finance practice, in particular as the firm continues to expand its public finance capabilities to serve Illinois State and local governmental units, regional and national underwriters and other participants in the tax-exempt debt market," said Mr. Bremer.

Mr. Bremer focuses his practice on public finance and tax and tax-exempt matters. He has served in such capacities in connection with general obligation, municipal utility revenue, limited tax, special assessment, advance refunding, health and educational facilities, single family and multifamily housing and industrial revenue bonds nationwide. He has also served as bond counsel, special tax counsel, underwriter’s counsel, borrower’s counsel, issuer’s counsel and counsel to credit enhancement providers in tax-exempt and taxable finance transactions.

He recently served in various capacities for bond issues of the State of Illinois, the City of Chicago, the Board of Education of the City of Chicago, The County of Cook, the Illinois Finance Authority and the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois. He is also experienced in drafting and reviewing various tax-exempt obligation derivatives, investments contracts and hedging agreements.

Mr. Bremer earned his LL.M. from DePaul University in Taxation, his J.D. from Northwestern University and his B.A. from St. Olaf College.
