Christopher DeMent practices in the areas of corporate and real estate law, focusing on the acquisition, divestiture and financing of commercial real estate, corporate mergers and acquisitions, commercial finance and creditor’s rights, formation of private investment funds and the issuance of mortgaged back securities. He has experience in the representation of real estate investment funds, commercial lenders, including banks and hedge funds, closely held businesses and charitable and not-for-profit institutions. Mr. DeMent’s recent experience includes:

• Representation of a real estate investment fund with over $1 billion in assets in its acquisition, financing and selling of commercial properties in Arizona, California, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
  
  
• Formation of a $50,000,000 investment fund organized to acquire distressed commercial mortgage backed securities.
  
  
• Representation of a bank providing a $50,000,000 capital call revolving credit facility to a private equity fund.
  
  
• Representation of a large multinational corporation in the international licensing of its intellectual property.
  
  
• Representation of a waste hauler in the negotiation and documentation of one of the largest hauling agreements in the State of Illinois and related disposal agreement.
  
  
• Representation of an accommodation party providing credit enhancement to the City of Chicago’s tax increment financing of certain mixed income developments.
  
  
• Formation of an investment trust issuer of pass through trust certificates backed by commercial mortgages.
  
  
• Representation of the seller of a majority interest in the LLC ownership entity of a 40-story office tower in downtown Chicago.
