David R. Cross, Partner

Community Service

Among the local service organizations that Dave supports are the following:

Children’s Outing Association (COA) Youth & Family Centers helps Milwaukee children, teens, and families reach their greatest potential through a continuum of educational, recreational, and social work programs offered through its urban community centers and rural camp facility. As a multicultural agency, COA values diversity and cooperation, and promotes growth and positive social interaction. Dave was a director from 1983–1987.

Over the past four decades,  Pathfinders has brought safety, hope, and healing to thousands of young people and families. Its programs represent some of the most comprehensive youth services available in Wisconsin, designed to protect youth and young adults and their families who are dealing with homelessness, family problems, mental health issues, sexual abuse, teen pregnancy, alcohol and drug addictions, juvenile delinquency, and educational needs. Dave was a director for 1987–1998 and president for 1996–1998.

Since 1928, the  University of Wisconsin Memorial Union has been an important part of the campus community. Long considered the campus “living room,” the Memorial Union and Union South serve thousands of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members who continue the tradition of attending art exhibits in Union galleries, meeting friends and future spouses on the Terrace or in der Rathskeller, taking an outdoor course with Hoofers, attending a world-class performance in the Union Theater, hearing a distinguished guest lecturer, or simply enjoying a sunset over Lake Mendota. Dave as been an associate trustee from 2002 to the present.

The mission of  North Suburban Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community. Dave has been an assistant coach from 2002 to the present.
