At Quarles & Brady, every person counts, every day.  Diversity is a part of our mission.  We are leaders in mentoring and developing outstanding diverse attorneys, with percentages of women and diverse partners and associates exceeding national averages.  Women and diverse attorneys head four of our eight offices, including our largest.  In 2010 and 2011, we earned the highest possible rating of 100% in the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation annual Corporate Equality Index.  Quarles & Brady is routinely ranked among the best law firms for women and diverse attorneys, family-friendly policies, informal training, and other categories that help promote a diverse workplace.  We are proud of our efforts and the Recognition and Accolades that we have received.  But a true climate of diversity cannot be measured by statistics, ratings, and awards alone.  It is, for us, a matter of purpose.


The importance of diversity at Quarles & Brady cannot be overstated.  The firm is committed to an aggressive agenda designed to promote and achieve diversity at all levels.  To better understand the subtleties of diversity, meet the challenges, and capture the opportunities that true diversity presents for everyone at Quarles & Brady, for our clients, and for our communities, we have implemented a number of ongoing initiatives, including our Women in Leadership Program, Diverse Attorney Recruiting, Retention and Promotion (including formal mentoring and minority liaison programs) and Family-Friendly Policies. Each of our offices has its own Diversity & Inclusion Council, whose members plan local educational and social events for attorneys and staff of all backgrounds.


The “Diversity Goal" has been a central component of our Strategic Plans for almost a decade.  To advance this Goal, the Executive Committee appointed a Diversity & Inclusion Committee to ensure that diversity is a part of the infrastructure of our organization. The Diversity & Inclusion Committee consists of representatives from our offices across the country and includes partners, associates and staff, as well as members of the firm's Executive Committee.  The Executive Committee also created the position of Director of Diversity, Employee Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility to provide firm leadership on diversity efforts, including determining and implementing "best practices."


Fostering inclusion through diversity is one of the surest ways we know to provide the best results for our clients.  Our commitment to diversity is not about winning prizes.  It is about winning cases, negotiating the best deal, and obtaining the most secure patents.  It is about employing a diversity of thought, creativity, and experience to understand our clients’ objectives and serve as trusted advisors.  And it is about making sure that we reflect and give back to the communities in which we practice.
