Presentation Overview
The Shifting NLRB Rules for Nonunion and Union Workforces
Presenters: Jon Pettibone and Dawn ValdiviaWe’ll explore the requirement that virtually all employers must post a notice advising employees of their rights to join a union and engage in other legally protected activities, whether or not they are represented by a union, and the NLRB’s announced changes to the election process when employees vote whether to be represented by a union. We’ll also discuss current attacks on standard employer policies pertaining to disclosure of confidential information, email usage, social networking and other common work rules currently being challenged by the NLRB.
Policies We’d Like to See When You Get Sued
Presenters: David Barton and Christine Burns
The true test of any HR policy is how it holds up during litigation. Christine Burns and David Barton recently finished a two week discrimination trial where the client’s policies played an important role in securing a complete defense verdict. Their presentation will describe what policies you should have concerning harassment, attendance, social media, leave, benefits, and pay, among other things. We’ll also discuss common errors in policies that get employers in trouble in the courtroom. Sample policies will be provided.
