CHICAGO, ILL. — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP is pleased to announce that James J. Gatziolis, a partner in the Firm’s Chicago office, has been elected as the 121^st president of the Union League Club of Chicago.

Established in 1879 in support of the federal Union, the Club is comprised of men and women who take an active role in the public, civic, cultural and philanthropic affairs of the Chicago metropolitan area. In his new role, Mr. Gatziolis will continue to work with Union League Club members to build on the organization’s long history of service to the community.

Mr. Gatziolis has a longstanding relationship with the Club. He has been a member since 1978, served on the board of directors and as the Club’s treasurer from 1986-1988, and was elected to a second term from 2004-2007. In 2008, he was elected second vice president of the Club and was elected first vice president in 2009. He has also served on the art, analysis & planning, house, finance, long range planning and personnel & administration committees. Currently, he is a trustee of the Union League Boys & Girls Clubs.

At Quarles & Brady, Mr. Gatziolis practices in the areas of corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, finance and creditor’s rights, tax and business planning. He has extensive experience in the representation of closely held businesses and banks and commercial lenders. He received a J.D. from the Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1973 and a B.S. from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1970. He is also an Illinois Registered Certified Public Accountant.
