Quarles & Brady's Hunter Named "2011 Nation's Best Advocates: 40 Lawyers Under 40"
CHICAGO, ILL. — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP announced that Steven V. Hunter, a partner in the Firm’s Chicago office, has been named a “2011 Nation’s Best Advocates: 40 Lawyers Under 40” by the National Bar Association (“NBA”) and IMPACT. Recipients will be honored at the Nation’s Best Advocates: 40 Under 40 Gala during the NBA’s 86th Annual Convention on July 31 in Baltimore.
The Nation’s Best Advocates: 40 Lawyers Under 40 recognizes talented individuals (age 40 and under) in the legal community who have achieved prominence and distinction. The awardees were selected based on their achievement, innovation, vision, leadership, and involvement in the legal community. Each attorney selected has demonstrated a strong commitment to empowering and uplifting the legal community and the African-American community at large. This year’s awardees represent a cross-section of legal professionals: solo practitioners, government lawyers, judges, academicians, corporate counsels, young elected officials, and other lawyers who are using their law degrees in innovative and progressive ways.
Mr. Hunter is a member of the Firm’s Commercial Litigation Group. He has first-chair experience representing national and multinational companies in disputes involving complex business, banking and finance transactions, construction disputes, intellectual property disputes and catastrophic product liability defense. He has a particular interest in digital age discovery. He recently became an E-Discovery Certified Specialist and authors a bi-monthly column related to discovery in the digital age. He serves on the board of several organizations including: the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Committee (Hearing Officer), the Chicago Sinfionetta, HealthConnect One, Inc., the Chicago Committee on Minorities in Large Law Firms and Chicago Volunteer Legal Services. In 2011 he received the “Men of Excellence” award from the Chicago Defender and he is the 2006 recipient of the Chicago Bar Association’s “Exceptional Young Lawyer Award”. Mr. Hunter received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center and his undergraduate degree from Brown University.
