Jack M. Cook

Data Security

Jack Cook uses his technical background in electrical engineering, computers, and electronics to readily translate complex computer and information technology infrastructure issues into plain language to educate and advise clients to plan for, protect against, and assess potential security incidents. As part of the Quarles & Brady Data Privacy & Security Team, he provides technical support and guidance to clients to understand and communicate challenges and risks to stakeholders.

Jack’s technical background and experience with large data incidents and breaches enables him to advise and guide forensic IT experts, clients, and interested third parties to reduce the uncertainty of a data incident or breach. Jack is able to cut through the cloud of uncertainty surrounding a data incident or breach and combat allegations of liability by:

  • translating forensic reports into legal or business terms;
  • guiding forensic IT activity in a way that ensures proper assessment of the business risks; and
  • advising executives and other stakeholders of progress and risks in plain language and business terms.
