Jacob L. Zerkle, Associate

Biography

As a member of the firm's Tax-Exempt Organizations and Business Law Practice Groups, Jacob devotes his practice to meeting the legal and tax needs of charitable organizations so that these organizations can focus on serving the city of Chicago and beyond.

Jacob advises public charities, private foundations, and social enterprises on a variety of matters, including the following: the corporate formation process, application for recognition of federal tax exemption with the IRS, charitable registration and solicitation, and property and sales tax exemptions. In his practice, Jacob also counsels non-profit organizations on matters related to board governance, unrelated business income, private benefit transactions, and other issues affecting his clients' tax-exempt status.
