Professional Experience
Jeremy Lite leads the Firm’s Environmental and Water Law practice in Tucson, Arizona, where he is involved in the Firm’s Clean Energy, Climate Change and Sustainability Group and Tribal Law Team. His work emphasizes litigation of disputes involving title to real property and claims of environmental contamination; renewable energy development; environmental and tribal housing matters in Indian Country; representing Jet Fuel Consortiums in environmental issues; Arizona groundwater rights and water supply; environmental clean-up; and compliance and permitting for manufacturers. Mr. Lite also works with major banks and other lenders to perform required environmental due diligence and to protect water rights in foreclosure situations.

Mr. Lite is admitted to practice in the State of Arizona as well as several tribal and federal courts. His recent experience includes:

Litigation of Environmental Matters / Title Disputes:

  • Representation of clients in defense of litigation involving claims of environmental contamination and toxic torts.

  • Assisting in the representation of clients involved in complex title disputes and conflicting claims to the ownership of real property in Arizona.

  • Representation of Tribal Housing Authority in Tribal Court to enforce housing contracts.

Environmental Clean-up, Permitting and Compliance:

  • Advising clients involved in major infrastructure development projects on complying with NEPA and Section 106 historic preservation requirements.

  • Providing guidance to gas products, heavy equipment, and other manufacturers in getting and complying with environmental permits.

  • Representing clients identified as PRPs at CERCLA and State Superfund sites.

  • Advising clients on site clean-up obligations and overseeing clean-up operations. 

Tribes and Renewable Energy:

  • Advising tribal housing authorities on complying with environmental requirements under HUD and NEPA in connection with rehabilitation, restoration, and construction.

  • Providing guidance on meeting environmental regulations and permitting requirements applicable to renewable energy development both on and off-Reservation, including solar power, alternative fuel production, and others.

  • Developing tribal environmental codes regulating solid waste, pesticide use, and other topics.

  • Assisting in commercial development and leasing on tribal lands.

Banks and Other Lenders: 

  • Advising major banks and lenders about complying with environmental due diligence in foreclosure situations and taking appropriate precautions when acquiring potentially contaminated property.

  • Working with banks and borrowers to ensure the proper maintenance and conveyance of water rights in Arizona.

Jet Fuel Consortiums:

  • Representing airline jet fuel consortiums in dealing with environmental issues and remediation projects at major airports, including managing compliance with consent decrees and cleanup orders.

  • Responding to incidents of damage to jet fuel pipelines by airport contractors, including negotiating repayment of damages and pursing litigation as needed.

Water Rights and Withdrawal Authority:

  • Resolving water rights issues related to Major League Baseball spring training facilities, large retail malls, golf courses, and commercial and residential subdivisions.

  • Assisting clients in complying with Arizona’s assured water supply and well drilling regulations, managing groundwater rights, and preparing filings required by the Arizona Department of Water Resources.
