  • On behalf of a utility client, successfully obtained regulatory approval for a 90-turbine, 162-megawatt wind energy project, including addressing significant challenges based on alleged negative health effects due to low-frequency noise and impacts on property values.
  • Representation of public utility client in all aspects of general and special-purpose rate cases.
  • Advocated and won restructuring of distributed generation tariffs on behalf of utility client, resulting in more equitable payment of fixed costs by all customers of the utility.
  • Representation of utility in regulatory proceedings seeking approval of multi-billion dollar acquisition of another utility company.
  • Represented utility in connection with prudence review of maintenance projects at nuclear power plant.
  • Represented public utility in arbitration against contractor concerning warranty defects in a newly-completed power plant, resulting in favorable multi-million dollar settlement.
  • Assisted community college with development of 10-kilowatt wind turbine on its campus for use in connection with renewable energy curriculum, including overcoming objections based on noise and aesthetics.
  • Represented client in the pulp and paper industry in challenge to wastewater rates being charged by utility, resulting in annual savings of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
  • Successfully obtained regulatory approval on behalf of a public utility client seeking for a 50-megawatt biomass cogeneration facility to be sited at operating paper mill.
  • Represented multiple utility clients with regard to investigation by Wisconsin Public Service Commission into potential excess generating capacity and other issues common to Wisconsin utilities.
  • Represented brewery client in water rate cases before the Wisconsin Public Service Commission.
  • Representation of clients in various commercial disputes regarding contracts, employment issues, intellectual property issues, ERISA, construction issues, and purchase/sale of businesses.
  • Preparation of petition for writ of certiorari to U.S. Supreme Court in litigation regarding rights of American Indian mothers under the Indian Child Welfare Act.
