How many states or countries have you lived in?
Two states (Wisconsin and Maryland) and two countries (U.S.A. and Kenya).
What is your favorite drink?
Beer, of course!
What is your favorite month?
August. We try to take an annual family trip/vacation before school starts in the fall.
What inspires you?
Service to others.
If you chose a quote to live by, what would it be?
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
What is your greatest accomplishment?
Completing my full two-year commitment in the Peace Corps.
What has been your most embarrassing experience at Q&B?
Misreading my electronic calendar and showing up halfway through a meeting.
What experience at Q&B has been the most fun?
Forming genuine friendships with my colleagues and celebrating their accomplishments.
What advice would you give to a law student?
Keep perspective by serving others through pro bono and other volunteer opportunities.
What is your greatest professional success?
Undefeated in court. (Well, I've only gone once--for a pro bono case--and it was small claims, but I'm undefeated!)
What class should you have taken in law school?
Who has given you the best advice about practicing law and what was that advice?
My mentor at Q&B, Mike Zeka. Read every word and do not be afraid to admit when you do not know something.
What makes you laugh?
Playing with my children.
What is the best thing about Q&B?
Our longstanding tradition of giving back to the community. I am regularly inspired by all the great things we do.
What do you do for fun?
I practice T'ai chi and play French horn in a chamber orchestra.
What is great about working in Milwaukee?
Amazing performing arts scene, unpretentious people and easy commutes. And beer, of course!
