Professional Experience
Michael D. Rechtin, Jr. is a partner in the Firm’s Real Estate Group. His practice focuses on commercial real estate, specializing in office, industrial and retail leasing, data center leasing, build-to-suit transactions, acquisitions, dispositions, financings, joint ventures and development. Mr. Rechtin represents on a local and national basis Fortune 500 companies, pension funds and pension fund advisors, investment advisory groups, local and national commercial developers, real estate entrepreneurs and professional services firms.
Mr. Rechtin’s experience includes:
- Represented the owners of the following downtown Chicago and suburban office buildings in their leasing and management work: 191 N. Wacker, 200 W. Jackson, Schaumburg Corporate Center, 541 N. Fairbanks, One S. Wacker, 311 S. Wacker, 100 N. Riverside Plaza, 222 S. Riverside Plaza, 35 E. Wacker, 200 N. LaSalle, 676 St. Clair, One Oakbrook Terrace and 400 Combined (Northbrook).
- Represented a Fortune 35 company as a tenant in a data center lease leasing 65,370 square feet of conditioned space (6.3 megawatts) in a Tier 3 data center facility in Northlake, Illinois.
- Represented a Fortune 400 company as a collocated tenant in a mission critical data center facility in suburban Chicago.
- Represented the enterprise affiliate of a major global cell phone company in its national data center needs.
- Represented a private equity firm in its data center development and operation strategy.
- Represented an industrial development joint venture (consisting of a well-known industrial developer and a major pension fund advisor) in the acquisition, financing, development, lease and sale of several major industrial warehouse developments in Illinois and Virginia.
- Represented several Fortune 500 companies and large professional services firms nationally on their real estate holdings.
- Represented former owner of 100 N. Riverside Plaza in downtown Chicago in the negotiation of a large company's world headquarters office lease.
- Represented an emerging technology client in its Oakbrook Terrace headquarters lease of over 130,000 square feet.
- Represented a financial services client in its Chicago headquarters office lease for over 400,000 square feet at One North Wacker.
