Two Quarles & Brady Attorneys Receive Award from Arizona Pharmacy Alliance

PHOENIX, ARIZ. — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP announced that two of the Firm’s Phoenix attorneys were recognized with awards by the Arizona Pharmacy Alliance (“AzPA”). The awards were presented at the AzPA’s Annual Meeting earlier this month.

Roger N. Morris - 2011 Bowl of Hygeia Award
Christine Cassetta - Pharmacy Appreciation Award

Roger N. Morris received the 2011 Bowl of Hygeia Award, the highest level of recognition provided to an Arizona pharmacist who has compiled an outstanding record of community service. Mr. Morris practices and serves as chairman of the Firm’s Health & Life Sciences Industry Group. He has previously served as a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee, Chair of the Health Law Group and as the Firm’s marketing partner. His practice focuses on the representation of health care providers and other employers emphasizing health care and pharmacy law, employment law, pharmaceutical and medical device and products liability cases. Mr. Morris also serves on the board of AzPA and several other associations including the Arizona Science Center, the Arizona Association of Health Care Lawyers, and the American Society for Pharmacy Law. He received both his law degree, magna cum laude, and undergraduate degree, cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Morris is a long time member of AzPA and regularly provides pharmacy law continuing education programs for its members.

Christine Cassetta received the Pharmacy Appreciation Award for demonstrating special or unique interests and concerns for the advancement of Arizona pharmacy, as reflected by dedicating significant time and effort in the completion of services for AzPA and/or the profession of pharmacy. She is a member of the Firm’s Health Law Group. Her practice includes regulatory issues with an emphasis in health care and pharmacy law and representation of health care providers. Her experience consists of analysis of federal and state pharmaceutical law and regulations, representation of commercial clients and health care professionals before state regulatory boards, compliance with HIPAA and state health privacy laws, drafting contracts and performing licensing and regulatory diligence for large health care transactions, health care fraud and abuse prevention, and advising commercial clients on FDA issues. In 2010, she received the “For Love of Justice” award from the Volunteer Lawyers Program of Maricopa County. Ms. Cassetta received her law degree from St. John’s University School of Law and her bachelor’s degree, with honors, from Manhattanville College. Ms. Cassetta represents the AzPA and other state health care associations in a lawsuit alleging the unconstitutionality of the Legislature’s “transfer” of licensing fees to the State’s general fund and provides ongoing legal services to AzPA.

AzPA is committed to serving and representing all pharmacy professionals in all practice settings. AzPA fosters safe and effective medication therapy, promotes innovative practice, and empowers its members to serve the health care needs of the public.
