Steven Hunter Named One of 40 Illinois Attorneys Under 40 to Watch

CHICAGO, IL — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP is pleased to announce that Steven Hunter, an attorney in the firm’s Commercial Litigation group in Chicago, has been named to the Law Bulletin Publishing Company’s 2008 list of the “40 Illinois Attorneys Under 40 to Watch.”

In selecting Mr. Hunter for its list, Law Bulletin Publishing Company noted that he has “quickly built a reputation as one of the top business lawyers in the city” and stated that though he is the youngest attorney featured in the issue, he “has a list of accomplishments that even the most veteran of lawyers would admire.”

A trial lawyer for Quarles & Brady in Chicago, Hunter represents national and multi-national companies in complex business disputes, intellectual property disputes and product liability defense. In addition to serving as trial counsel, he has also partnered with clients on risk management and liability assessment issues.

“We are delighted that Steven is being recognized for his hard work and dedication to his profession, however I can’t say we are surprised” said D. Scott Watson, Managing Partner of Quarles & Brady’s Chicago office. “Steven is an exceptional attorney and clients have repeatedly and consistently recognized his proficiency at trial practice and commitment to individualized client service.”

In addition to his work with clients, Hunter dedicates tremendous amounts of time to pro bono and diversity initiatives throughout Chicagoland, including litigating civil matters ranging from child custody and divorce cases to breach of contract and hate crimes. He has earned numerous honors for his pro bono work and commitment to the legal profession, including the Chicago Bar Association's prestigious Maurice Weigle Exceptional Young Lawyer Award.

Hunter received a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 2002 and an A.B. from Brown University in 1999. He currently serves on the Board of the Chicago Sinfonietta, the Associate Board of the Chicago Committee on Minorities in Large Law Firms and is a former Chair of the Chicago Bar Association's Committee on Racial and Ethnic Diversity.

This is the ninth year the Law Bulletin has honored young Illinois attorneys for their passion, dedication and commitment to the legal profession. The selection committee based its decisions on the attorneys' career achievements including successful settlements, verdicts, acquisitions or transactions, career progressions of the nominees, and contributions to their communities.
