Kim Johnson featured in article “Quarles & Brady Elects Woman Partner To Top Chair”

Following is an excerpt:

Johnson, a trusts and estates partner, was most recently chair of the firm’s finance committee and managing partner of the Naples and Tampa, Fla., offices.

Industrywide, women in top chair roles “are few and far between, but I think our firm is exceptional in many ways and is very inclusive,” Johnson told Law360. “We understand people bring different value ... and we try to look at all different groups and make sure they have opportunities.”

Johnson was elected in May by the executive committee for a five-year term to begin Oct. 1. She will continue to serve as a member of the executive committee and work from the Florida offices. Milwaukee-based mergers and acquisitions and finance partner Fredrick G. Lautz has been reappointed as managing partner.

A number of the firm’s leadership roles are already held by women, Johnson noted, including office managing partners at the Milwaukee headquarters and in the Madison, Wis., office. Of the firm's 445 lawyers, 37 percent are women, and 27 percent of partners are women.
