How does one go from being a police officer to being the first female chair of a 120-year-old law firm?
Ask Kimberly Leach Johnson, chair of Quarles & Brady, the 500-attorney law firm with 10 offices.
Johnson worked as a reserve police officer when she was in her early 20s, until an Anderson University, Ind., professor, impressed with her problem-solving skills, told her that she should apply to law school.
“I carried a gun, went on drug raids and found the police work fascinating. Had I been allowed to just move up to detective, I might not have gone to law school,” the Ohio native says.
