Kristin Occhetti to Receive the 2013 Howard B. Eisenberg Service Award from Marquette University Law School

MILWAUKEE, WIS. - The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP announced that Kristin A. Occhetti, an attorney in the firm's Milwaukee office has been named the recipient of the 2013 Howard B. Eisenberg Service Award from Marquette University Law School.

This annual award honors a Marquette Law School graduate, who within the past 15 years, has been committed to public interest law and/or service to the community, and who exemplifies living the Marquette mission of faith, service, leadership, and excellence. "It's incredibly humbling to be receiving such a huge honor from Marquette Law School, and it's hard not to feel slightly undeserving since Quarles and Brady has made it so easy for me to stay committed to pro bono work," said Occhetti. "I couldn't have asked for a better support system than my firm." 

Occhetti is heavily involved in the community through her personal and professional life. She is a member of several Milwaukee-area organizations and committees including, serving on ARC of Greater Milwaukee, Inc.'s trust committee, the Zoological Society of Milwaukee's associate board, and co-chair of the Children's Hospital Guardianship Pro Bono Clinic. At the firm, Occhetti serves as chair of the Milwaukee office's Quarles Cares program. As a member of the Quarles Cares committee, she assists in the development and creation of civic and charitable initiatives for the firm's Milwaukee office employees to get involved in. The committee provides opportunities for attorneys and staff to commit themselves to various civic and charitable efforts throughout the year. A few examples include, the Open Door Ministry Program at The Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist, the Hunger Task Force's "Stamp Out Hunger" Food Drive, the Marine Corps Toys for Tots, and the Greater Milwaukee United Way Program, among many others.

Occhetti is a member of the firm's Trusts & Estates Practice Group, focusing her practice on estate planning and wealth preservation strategies for individuals, small business owners and professionals. Her experience includes preparing wills, trusts, financial and health care powers of attorney and planning traditional bypass trusts and marital deductions, generation-skipping transfer taxes, and asset protections. She earned her law degree, cum laude, from Marquette University Law School and her bachelor's degree in Anthropology-Zoology from the University of Michigan.
