Quarles & Brady Partners Recognized by Chicago United

Partners Receive 2011 Ambassador and Visionary Awards at Group's Annual Meeting

CHICAGO, ILL. - Janine-Landow-Esser, a partner and chair of the National Diversity Committee for Quarles & Brady LLP, received Chicago United's 2011 Ambassador Award during the group's Annual Meeting on March 21st. Serving along with Landow-Esser on the Chicago United Leaders Council is partner Kevin Slaughter, who was awarded a 2011 Visionary Honorary Mention during the meeting. The awards were given for Landow-Esser's and Slaughter's efforts in support of the Chicago United/Chicago Scholars' Career Mentoring Initiative, which is a key partnership for Chicago United. Since the inception of the program in late 2010, Quarles has been instrumental in providing access to the Firm's leaders and hosting various events including the Speed Mentoring and Interview Sessions.

"These awards symbolize Quarles & Brady's commitment to leadership, community engagement and corporate social responsibility," said Landow-Esser. "We are so pleased that Chicago United has allowed us to partner with them in preparing our city's next generation of leaders." The goal of the Career Mentoring Initiative is to produce valuable interactions between aspiring students and seasoned professionals to create a smoother transition from high school to college to career. The members of the Leaders Council serve as mentors and role models, helping scholars gain essential knowledge and skills they will need for various industry segments and professions.

"Oftentimes, our scholars simply need individuals to listen to their professional aspirations and life motivations to reach a new level of clarity, to boost their confidence, challenge their assumptions, and make the college-to-workforce transition a smoother process," said Gloria Castillo, President of Chicago United. "We thank Quarles for its leadership in supporting Chicago Scholars."
