Quarles & Brady’s Cote Is Subject Matter Expert in Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Compliance Online Training02/18/15
MILWAUKEE, Wis. — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP today announced that Larry Cote, managing partner of the firm's Washington, D.C. office and co-leader of its DEA Compliance & Litigation Practice Group, is the subject matter expert for an online course designed to educate pharmacists about compliance with DEA standards regarding controlled substances.
The National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) developed the 50-minute online course "Satisfying DEA Standards When Dispensing Controlled Substances" in conjunction with LearnSomething, A Xerox Company, a leading provider of eLearning solutions for the food, drug, and health care industries, as well as nonprofit organizations. Objectives of the course include describing pharmacist obligations regarding controlled substance dispensing, explaining the DEA's "corresponding responsibility" rules and expectations of pharmacists, and identifying "red flags" that indicate a prescription wasn't issued for a legitimate medical purpose.
Before joining Quarles & Brady in 2012, Cote served as the associate chief counsel for the DEA's Diversion and Regulatory Litigation Section.
"Mr. Cote's background and expertise gives him a unique perspective on the topic," said Steven C. Anderson, IOM, CAE, president and CEO of NACDS. "We are excited for him to share his valuable insight with our members."
On-demand access to "Satisfying DEA Standard When Dispensing Controlled Substances" is available through Nov. 24, 2017, and is approved for 1.0 contact hour of continuing education credit. For more information and to access the course, visit www.learnsomething.com.
