Two Quarles & Brady Attorneys Recognized in 2013 International Who’s Who of Corporate Immigration Lawyers

MADISON, WIS. - The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP announced that Grant Sovern, the firm's national immigration practice group chair and Lisa D. Duran, a partner in the firm's Phoenix office, were named to The International Who's Who of Corporate Immigration Lawyers 2013 by Who's Who Legal.

Sovern and Duran are among 476 individuals in the world to be named leading corporate immigration lawyers. Nominees are selected based upon comprehensive, independent surveys with both general counsel and private practice lawyers worldwide. Only specialists who have met independent international research criteria are listed. The International Who's Who of Corporate Immigration Lawyers 2013 guide will be published in April.

Sovern practices in the firm's Madison office. His area of concentration is employment immigration for employers and employees, specifically developing programs for employers to obtain work visas and immigrant visas (permanent residence) through employment means such as outstanding researcher, extraordinary ability, and labor certification, as well as facilitating global mobility programs. Sovern counsels companies on developing, maintaining, and defending immigration compliance programs related to I-9s and E-Verify. Sovern is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Wisconsin Law School, where he teaches immigration law. He received his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School and his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Tufts University.

Duran practices in the areas of commercial litigation, international business law and immigration law. Her experience includes representing clients in international arbitration proceedings, assisting clients in negotiating and documenting international transactions requiring Spanish language fluency, representing corporations in sponsoring foreign national professionals for employment-based non-immigrant and immigrant visas ("green cards"), and representing foreign nationals in obtaining United States citizenship administratively and through federal court litigation. Duran is an Adjunct Professor at Arizona State University Sandra Day O'Connor School of Law, where she teaches business immigration law. In 2012, she was named Best Lawyers' 2012 Phoenix Immigration Law Lawyer of the Year.
