Steven is the national chair of the Electronic Discovery and Record Retention Group at Quarles & Brady, and is one of a handful of attorneys in the US certified as an Association of Certified e-Discovery Specialists (ACEDS) e-discovery specialist.1 In that vein, Steven has experience:

  • Interviewing IT, engineering, finance, HR, and other critical personnel to determine how the enterprise's data (electronic and paper, and including personally identifiable information [PII]) is generated, transmitted, and stored
  • Mapping where data (including PII) is located on the enterprise's networks and in their physical infrastructure
  • Preparing a "data map" which graphically depicts how data is stored on the enterprise's networks and physical infrastructure
  • Developing/revising enterprise storage and retention policies to address data retrieval and security concerns
  • Advising/counseling clients in the financial services, manufacturing, and retail industries on the civil risk from data breach and developments in the litigation of data breach disputes

He has performed the aforementioned services for:

  • International fast food retailers
  • International software development companies
  • Food processing/manufacturing companies
  • Vehicle finance companies
  • Apparel retail company
