Professional Experience
Terrence Stein practices in the Tax Group and is the co-chair of the Private Equity/Venture Capital Group. He focuses his practice on:
  • Federal and state taxation, with particular emphasis on domestic and international taxation, mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital, joint ventures, spin-offs, restructurings, redemptions and related transactions. He advises public and closely held companies, including corporations and affiliated groups, joint ventures, partnerships and limited liability companies.

  • Advising private equity funds and domestic and international real estate investment funds, and representing investors in such funds.

  • Structuring renewable energy projects in order to allow investors to receive Federal tax credits to investors, and representing investors making investments in renewable energy projects.

  • Representing taxpayers in audits and other tax controversies involving federal and state taxation.

  • Mr. Stein was formerly in charge of the tax department and a member of the Executive Committee of a leading Chicago-based law firm.
