Representative Matters
- Leading a multi-disciplinary team of lawyers representing a real estate investment trust (REIT) in a public-private partnership to develop, finance, construct, operate, and maintain a transportation-related project in suburban Chicago
- Drafting and negotiating initial and definitive project agreements for infrastructure transactions, including memoranda of understanding, revenue sharing arrangements, design-build contracts, ground leases, railroad overpass and easement agreements, and non-disclosure agreements
- Leading a multi-disciplinary team of lawyers representing a publicly traded infrastructure company in its acquisition and financing of a district cooling system that serves downtown Chicago
- Providing advice on Illinois’ public-private partnership laws, including the Public-Private Partnerships for Transportation Act and the Public Private Agreements for the Illiana Expressway Act
- Assisting with obtaining the necessary federal, state, and local approvals and permits for infrastructure projects, including from the US Coast Guard, Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC), counties, and municipalities
- Identifying and analyzing the legal issues related to infrastructure transactions, including those concerning financing, taxation, third-party investment, procurement, insurance, government transparency and disclosure, environmental, and transportation
- Assisting the developer of a multi-modal logistics park in identifying and obtaining federal, state, and local support for infrastructure upgrades, including the federal Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grant program
