2018 LCLD 1L Retreat Reflections

I actually really enjoyed the conference, it was all together a great weekend. Having the opportunity to hear minority speaker's talk openly about their practice was reassuring and insightful -- in fact it made me feel proud. The workshops were the same way in that the attorneys presenting were very honest in their answers and gave helpful feedback and advice for various areas. They also provided an understanding of their day-to-day work that gave me better knowledge into what my interests will look like. Most importantly, the conference allowed me to socialize and network with other students, particularly those in the Midwest. In fact, someone in attendance has scheduled a happy hour get together in Chicago for those who were in attendance. Beyond that, it was a perfect opportunity to explore Philadelphia and the nation's history, which was a different experience with the feeling that I have now begun my legal career.

The 1L LCLD Conference was extremely insightful! I truly enjoyed each breakout workshop that I attended and I am grateful that I had the opportunity to network with other 1L's in similar positions. The tables and nametags were coordinated by region and I believe that was helpful in breaking the ice when meeting new people. Also, I am glad the students were allowed time to explore the city and the social events were extremely fun. The two days went by so quick, I honestly wish it lasted longer! Overall, I am glad to be a part of another network and look forward to building relationships through the organization while also providing insight for those that may come after me.
