Summer Associate Perspectives

Social Events

The social activities have been so fun. Getting to interact with partners and associates in a casual setting is great for building relationships and networking. The Scavenger Hunt, Diamondbacks game, and day trip to Sedona were all so memorable. I look forward to the rest of the events!

The summer has been busy, but Quarles & Brady keeps it fun. Aside from various dinners and happy hours mingling with associates and partners of the firm, the Phoenix office has brought us to a Diamondbacks game, a trip to Sedona, and on a city scavenger hunt. Although both the scavenger hunt and the baseball game were a blast - and it was great to meet new attorneys and watch the Diamondbacks crush it this season - my favorite event was definitely Sedona. We were able to enjoy a wine tasting tour, see the infamous red rocks, and finish the day with a nice dinner in one of these old "far west" style restaurants. I am also looking forward to our next activity coming up tomorrow, which will be a poker night!

This summer has been a blast so far! We ventured up north to Sedona, attended a Diamondbacks game with amazing seats, and had the chance to win big at a poker tournament. My favorite social event was Sedona because we went to a local winery and explored the city. I am also really looking forward to the progressive dinner this week!

During the course of the summer, we have had the opportunity to explore the city of Milwaukee in a way that I haven't been able to in my four years as an undergraduate at Marquette University. Beyond the multitude of lunches at high-end Milwaukee establishments near the downtown area that we've experienced throughout the summer, we've also had the opportunity to attend theater performances at the Skylight to see "Sweeney Todd" (I'm never eating a meat pie again…), Brewers games in the box seats, networking opportunities on the patio of the Iron Horse, and we are looking forward to taking the Miller "hard hat" brewery tour next week. In all, it's been an exciting summer getting to know the partners, associates, and other summers in the firm!

Quarles & Brady provides quite a few social events throughout the summer to allow you get to know everyone you are working with outside of the office. Some examples of these social events are happy hours, cookouts, and even an associate day on the water. All of the events I've been to have been well planned and a lot of fun!

Bill Parks, Naples Office (Levin College of Law, University of Florida, Class of 2018)

The firm goes out of its way to make sure the summer associates are having a good time and enjoying the summer. While the firm still expects us to do good work and complete assignments on time, summer associates should not be staying at the office for work and missing out on the events. I had three different people at the firm check in with me personally to make sure I was going to an event. Events range from ping-pong and bocce to a Cubs game at a rooftop to a jazz concert at the Shedd Aquarium. The firm definitely knows how to have fun and makes sure its summer associates have fun as well.

Karim Popatia, Chicago Office (Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, Class of 2018)

Quarles has done an excellent job of utilizing the great city of Chicago for our social events and activities. We just recently were treated to a behind the scenes tour of the Field Musuem, complete with presentations by staff scientists and a peak at the museum's huge artifact collection that is not available to the general public. We've had numerous happy hours and meetings after work, two of which included ping pong and bocce ball. I am personally still looking forward to Jazzin' at the Shedd Aquarium. These events have been great opportunities to get to know each other better as a summer class and to have a chance to interact with partners, associates, and staff outside of a work setting.
