Quarles has offices in 11 cities of varying size -- from our Midwestern offices in Chicago, Indianapolis, Madison, Milwaukee and Minneapolis, to our Southwestern offices in Phoenix and Tucson, to our Florida offices in Naples and Tampa, and finally in San Diego and Washington, D.C. Each of our hometowns has a lot to offer our professionals, and we’re always ready to help people new to the area explore the cities we call home.

Learning and development at work.

Regardless of our individual educational backgrounds, some of our most important education happens at work. At Quarles, we do not simply rely upon learning by doing. We provide structured learning and development curriculums to meet the individual needs of our attorneys and business professionals based on their experience level, practice group and department. We are committed to providing holistic programming to meet the professional and personal needs of our people, which includes a focus on well-being. We provide the foundation for success as we guide talented people to reach their full potential as lawyers, business professionals and leaders in the firm.

Enter Quarles University

Designed to provide our attorneys with the skills and knowledge most relevant to legal practice, QU’s goal is to educate, inform and turn knowledge into effective, practical action. Each year, we bring our people together for customized training at the junior, mid, senior associate and income partner level. These in-person (when possible) workshops provide opportunities for development and networking. They cover topics such as communication, negotiations, client management, business development, financial planning, well-being and much more. Additionally, we offer training opportunities to attorneys at all levels throughout the year, including additional professional skills, well-being, business development and diversity programming. Our practice groups also develop and deliver customized, practice group-specific training, including hour-long CLE sessions and multi-day practical NITA programming for litigators.

Feedback

We’re not content to rest on our laurels when it comes to learning and development. That’s why we are reimagining our approach to giving and receiving feedback. Constructive, honest, timely and actionable feedback is a critical part of professional development. Using customized tools, we aim to materially improve the way we approach these conversations and ultimately strengthen the firm’s culture. We believe a strong, healthy culture leads to better outcomes for clients, better trained and more engaged lawyers and business professionals, and a more fun and rewarding work experience for everyone.

Mentoring

We recognize the importance of mentoring at all stages of an associate’s career. We have a robust, multi-tiered mentoring program, designed to help our associates seamlessly integrate into Quarles and provide support as they advance. Entry level associates are paired with peer liaisons, who are other associates who help them transition into the Quarles community. After spending a few months at the firm, associates will transition to a longer-term, more senior mentor, who will help guide them professionally.
