DAY ONE - AUGUST 4, 2021

12:00 - 1:00 p.m. - Hot Topics in Pharmacy Law

This popular session will cover topics such as centralization/central fill and shared services, implications of Rutledge v. PCMA, legality of CBD, the COVID-19 vaccine, controlled substances, couponing, and privacy.

1:30 - 2:30 p.m. - 340B Update

Presenter: Richie Davis

The past few years have been an unusually tumultuous time in the 340B Program. This presentation will outline key developments over recent years, with an emphasis on identifying the main challenges and opportunities for 340B Program stakeholders. The presenter will underline the practical steps that 340B Program stakeholders can take to ensure compliance and optimize 340B Program participation during the current shifting state of the 340B Program.

In this session, the presenters will discuss recent regulatory updates and provide an overview of trends in telepharmacy.


DAY TWO - AUGUST 5, 2021

12:00 - 1:00 p.m. - Coordination of (Legal) Care: Defending a Case with Administrative, Civil, and Criminal Implications

This session will tackle a number of emerging pharmacy topics from the unique perspective of the State Boards of Pharmacies and how the Boards are governing the practice of pharmacy in Alabama, Arkansas, and North Carolina. A moderated Q&A session will discuss recent developments faced by the Boards such as emergency rules, compounding, telehealth FDA inspections, and much more.

3:00 - 4:00 p.m. - Healthcare Disparities and Outcomes Related to Black Communities

Join a dynamic panel of diverse leaders from various healthcare organizations to discuss the critical issue of how disparities in the delivery of health care, and in particular, pharmacy, are disproportionately impacting Black communities in the United States. The panelists will discuss research identifying key issues that can lead to poor outcomes (e.g., access, affordability, and adherence), issues with existing programs that attempt to address disparities, and discuss the need for a multi-pronged approach that includes the involvement of multiple stakeholders--including payors, pharmaceutical manufacturers, prescribers, and pharmacies. Panelists will also explain the mission of the newly-formed non-profit organization Black Director's Health Equity Agenda (BDHEA): ensuring that every human being can achieve their full health potential.
