Licensing and IP Transactions
Jack Cook works with national and international companies, as well as research institutions, to promote or complement their technology through licensing and collaborative agreements. A natural extension of creating and maintaining these highly valuable IP portfolios is the opportunity to add or extract value through licensing or other transactions. He works with clients to develop and manage portfolios of intellectual property assets to align them with product roadmaps or to develop commercialization plans.
Jack successfully guides clients to the realization of their business objectives by:
- seeking licensees for a client’s technology;
- seeking complementary technology for a client to license;
- negotiating collaborative research and development agreements; or
- negotiating and closing a license or sale of IP assets alone or in conjunction with a larger transaction.
Jack has developed and managed IP assets that have, collectively, generated licenses and other transactions valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars. He has negotiated or guided licenses and other IP transactions with companies in the medical device, high-tech, consumer electronics, life sciences, pharmaceutical, industrial manufacturing, food and beverage, and software industries. He routinely advises on global licensing strategies and programs.
