ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund
To honor John for his service as firm chairman, Quarles & Brady and clients of the firm established the ABA Legal Opportunity Fund in Honor of John W. Daniels Jr., sponsored by Quarles & Brady. The scholarship, which provides annual support for worthy diverse students to attend law school, was launched with over $100,000 in contributions from Quarles & Brady, colleagues of Daniels, and numerous other friends and clients, and the total is expected to grow. The initial total alone is the largest one-time donation from sources outside the ABA since the ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund was founded.
The ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship grants 20 incoming diverse law students with $15,000 of financial assistance over the course of their three years in law school. During his term as ABA President, William G. Paul initiated the scholarship to encourage racially and ethnically diverse students to apply to and attend law school.
