Jonathan Hudis, Partner

Biography

Jonathan Hudis is a seasoned litigator and legal advisor whose years of litigation experience and work with a wide diversity of clients have honed his skill and finesse in helping clients protect and defend their intellectual property assets. He understands the opportunities and risks businesses face with their intellectual capital, and skillfully guides clients from the earliest stages of IP asset development and protection through mature portfolio management. Throughout his 30 year career, Jonathan has brought and defended a full range of copyright, trademark, trade secret, and unfair competition matters in the federal and state courts, before the Register of Copyrights, and at the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) of the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Jonathan is particularly knowledgeable in Internet-related challenges. His depth of experience makes him keenly in tune with the rapidly evolving landscape of intellectual property and the Internet. He is a member of several arbitration panels in the areas of Internet domain names and trademarks. These roles include serving as a Domain Name Panelist for the World Intellectual Property Organization’s Arbitration and Mediation Center and a Qualified Domain Name Dispute Resolution Panelist for the National Arbitration Forum.

Jonathan served for many years as an adjunct professor of trademark and unfair competition law at the George Mason University School of Law. He is a frequent author and speaker on current IP topics particularly in the trademark and copyright arenas. Through the years, Jonathan has held leadership roles in several professional associations and has received numerous professional recognition awards. His multi-state Bar Admissions are a unique strength for his clients with regional operations in the mid-Atlantic and northeastern regions of the U.S., although he works with clients across the country and internationally.
