Julia Moran is a Patent Agent in the Intellectual Property Practice Group who assists clients in the preparation and prosecution of domestic and foreign patent applications and patent searches. She advises clients on strategies for building and managing their patent portfolios, and assists patent practitioners with conducting clearance and patentability analyses.
With a background in mechanical engineering, she has experience in preparing, filing, and prosecuting utility patent applications in various sectors, including automotive, trucking equipment, consumer products, industrial machinery, medical devices, navigation and routing systems, and sporting equipment. Prior to her career as a Patent Agent, Julia worked as an engineering intern with a large fitness equipment manufacturer and a large refrigeration system manufacturer. While at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she dedicated her Senior Design Project to developing an adaptor for converting a recumbent tandem tricycle into a handcycle for physically limited cyclists, which was ultimately used during the 2018 Chicago Half-Marathon.
