American College of Trust and Estate Counsel Names Hoopingarner a Fellow

CHICAGO, ILL. — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP today announced that Kirk A. Hoopingarner, a partner in the firm's Chicago office, has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (“ACTEC”).

ACTEC is a professional organization of approximately 2,600 lawyers who have demonstrated the highest level of integrity, commitment to the profession, competence and experience as trust and estate counselors. Individual lawyers meeting the criteria for membership are nominated by Fellows of the College, and are subjected to careful review by both state and national membership selection committees prior to consideration by the regents of the College. Fellows are selected on the basis of experience, professional reputation and ability in the fields of trusts and estates and on the basis of having made substantial contributions to these fields through lecturing, writing, teaching and bar activities.

Hoopingarner practices in the firm’s Trusts & Estates and Tax-Exempt Organizations practice groups. For over 30 years, he has concentrated his practice on all facets of wealth planning and philanthropy for high-net-worth families and individuals. He has counseled his clients on a broad range of matters involving the management and transfer of wealth, including charitable gifting techniques, all types of trusts used in family wealth management and transfers, business succession planning, family limited partnerships and limited liability companies, asset protection, and federal and state estate and gift tax planning. Hoopingarner also has extensive experience in sophisticated charitable planning, both for individual donors and for substantial charitable organizations.

Hoopingarner received his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School and his undergraduate degree from Hope College.
