Certified Information Privacy Professional Gregory J. Leighton Joins Quarles & Brady as Partner

CHICAGO — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP today announced that Gregory J. Leighton has joined the firm's Data Privacy & Security practice, as a partner in its Chicago office and member of its Intellectual Property Group.

Leighton is a Certified Information Privacy Professional in the U.S. and Europe (CCIP/US and CCIP/E), and a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), the world’s largest and most comprehensive global information privacy organization.

With a thorough knowledge of data privacy principles, standards and laws, Leighton counsels clients in the U.S. and around the world on domestic and international privacy policies; data processing security; the movement of data across international borders; and building successful information governance programs. He guides clients in the development of effective data governance programs and policies, and data breach response plans, to maximize data privacy and security while minimizing risks and costs.

Leighton is also a registered patent attorney with a focus on patent prosecution and other intellectual property protection and enforcement. Prior to becoming an attorney, he worked as a chemical engineer. Leighton received his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University and his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Loyola University Chicago School of Law.
