David Brunori quoted in article “The District Expects a Big Boost in Revenue. That Could Mean Tax Cuts in 2018”Washington Business Journal 01/03/17
Below is an excerpt:
David Brunori, a tax expert and professor of public policy at George Washington University's Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration, said the strong numbers come hand-in-hand with an improving economy.
More companies are hiring, more people are spending money and that created more recurring revenue than the District had originally expected, he said.
“That’s all positive and if it stays this course that will give rise to a round of tax cuts,” Brunori said. “Some of that is going to ease a little bit, but D.C. is in pretty good shape right now.”
However, there are still a few unknowns that could change or alter the projections, including President-elect Donald Trump’s impact on the economy and possible cuts to the federal budget, which could impact all of Greater Washington, he said.
