Elizabeth A. Orelup Named a Woman of Influence by The Milwaukee Business Journal

News Release

MILWAUKEE, WIS. — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP today announced that Elizabeth A. Orelup, a partner in the firm’s Milwaukee office, has been named a 2014 Woman of Influence by The Milwaukee Business Journal.

The Women of Influence award profiles Milwaukee-area women who are making a big impact in their communities, both at work and in community endeavors in southeastern Wisconsin. Orelup was selected as a Woman of Influence in the category of “Behind the Scenes.” All award recipients will be honored at an awards event and featured in a special section of The Business Journal of Milwaukee on June 7.

“Liz absolutely deserves this recognition,” said firm chair Kimberly Leach Johnson. “She has quietly accomplished so many outstanding achievements over the years, in the firm and community alike, without drawing a lot of attention to herself. The ‘behind the scenes’ award was never more appropriately bestowed.”

Orelup is the national vice chair of the firm’s Corporate Services Practice Group. She represents lenders and borrowers in commercial lending transactions and in distressed credit matters and bankruptcy. Orelup has comprehensive experience in acquisition financing transactions and, following private equity acquisition transactions, she works closely with the portfolio companies in all aspects of their financing and credit needs.

Orelup has been deeply involved in the Milwaukee and legal communities for her entire career. Currently, she sits on the Steering Committee of Milwaukee Women inc., and she represents Quarles & Brady in its partnership with the Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corporation, arranging lawyer secondments and pro bono services for WWBIC’s commercial loan program. She serves on the board of directors of Junior Achievement of Wisconsin as well. With respect to professional service, she serves as the Firm's representative to the national Working Group on Legal Opinions Foundation, and is Chair of the Firm's Opinions Committee.

Orelup received her law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law and her undergraduate degree from Lawrence University.
