Milwaukee Partner to Compete in the 2018 World Marathon Challenge01/19/18
Seven Marathons, in Seven Days, on Seven Continents
Wisconsin attorney to compete in the 2018 World Marathon Challenge
Quarles & Brady is pleased to announce that Milwaukee partner, Mitch Moser will be running seven marathons, on seven continents over just seven days in the 2018 World Marathon Challenge.
Moser is a 25-year veteran of the firm who specializes in product liability litigation. The firm is wholeheartedly supporting Moser as he trains and gears up for the challenge of a lifetime that will add “World Marathon” runner to his resume.
This bigger than life challenge came to Moser from his childhood friend, President of the Miami Marlins and Milwaukee native David Samson. Samson formed a team named “Hold the Plane” to participate in the 2018 World Marathon Challenge. Along with Moser, the team comes from all walks of life, including a dentist, 7th grade social studies teacher, professional photographer and many avid runners. Others of note include Boston Marathon Race Director Dave McGillivray, who has been inducted into the Running USA Hall of Champions, and celebrity status runners Paralympian Sarah Reinertsen, reality TV “Survivor” star Sarah Lacina, and model Mikayla Wingle. The team is rounded out with four executive staff members of the Miami Marlins and former Marlins outfielder Jeff Conine.
“I never imagined I’d participate in something like this,” says Moser. “But it’s exciting, challenging and for a good cause that will benefit 11 amazing organizations."
The challenge kicks off in Antarctica on January 30, 2018, and culminates in Miami on February 5. During the 168-hour period, competitors on team “Hold the Plane” will fly by charter plane and run 26.2 miles at each stop. During their week-long global tour, the "Hold the Plane" runners will raise money for 11 charities.
“One of those organizations is Wisconsin's own Camp Interlaken,” said Moser. “Not only did I attend this camp as a child, but I met our team leader there and formed a lifelong bond. It’s an incredible place where every kid gets to be a star!”
Camp Interlaken JCC is the resident camp of the Harry and Rose Samson Family JCC in Milwaukee. The Camp is located in Eagle River, Wisconsin and hosts more than 400 youth each summer.
To prepare for the 777 marathon challenge of a lifetime, the Quarles & Brady attorney and father of three, trains four to five times a week, running between three and 20 miles each time before going into the office or on weekends.
“I think my work at Quarles & Brady has prepared me for a challenge like this,” says Moser. “I am challenged mentally with my work day in and day out, while the firm also supports my personal goal to conquer the daunting task of seven marathons in seven days.”
