Trio of Quarles & Brady Staff Members Honored as Wisconsin Law Journal “Unsung Heroes”

Milwaukee – The national law firm of Quarles & Brady announced today that staff members Bernard Frenzer, Janet Haefemeyer and Amy Lotharius have been selected as 2021 “Unsung Heroes” by the Wisconsin Law Journal.

The “Unsung Heroes” award recognizes support staff in the Wisconsin legal community who work hard behind the scenes for local attorneys and play a significant role in contributing to the success of their organizations. This year’s winners will be honored December 10 at an event in Milwaukee.

Frenzer, office administrator for the firm’s Madison and Minneapolis offices, was nominated by Madison office managing partner Ave Bie, who said, “Berny has established himself as an invaluable asset to Quarles & Brady, someone who always is willing to do whatever is necessary to make sure a job is done well.” Among other things, Frenzer was nominated for the important role he has played in helping the Madison and Minneapolis offices navigate the COVID-19 pandemic and for providing valuable support to the Minneapolis team since the firm opened that office in 2018.

Haefemeyer, a digital access, budget and operations specialist, manages the firm’s extensive electronic research resources, as well as invoicing and budgeting for the information technology and research teams. She also has played a critical role in helping the firm’s attorneys adopt a new news aggregator. “She combines strong time management and communication skills with an attention to detail and a ready willingness to take on new challenges and projects, making her an invaluable asset to her team and her colleagues across the firm,” said Nicole Scheinkoenig, manager of IT budget and operations, in the nomination.

Lotharius, a business development manager, “plays a critical role in helping develop business development strategies and then does not hesitate to roll up her sleeves and ensure those strategies are executed well,” said nominator Jill Weber, chief business development officer. “In doing so, she consistently frees up time for attorneys to focus more on client work.” In addition to her work helping attorneys across the firm manage existing client relationships and attract new business, Lotharius has helped develop and implement a new strategic planning process being used by each practice group.
