Data Privacy & Security Webinar Series | Employee Privacy Issues

Webinar

 | 09:30 am - 10:45 am

Program Overview: Legal concerns about employee privacy issues have exploded over the past year. Privacy concerns in the workplace are no longer limited to who has access to an employee’s personnel file, but have expanded to include matters ranging from an employee's social media activity, criminal conviction history, genetic history, medical information, and background check. How can employers navigate these new protections?

Employers offering benefit plans or wellness programs are likewise facing new challenges related to employee privacy issues. Employers come into contact with personal and private employee data on a routine basis and must comply with a number of laws and other requirements to ensure that the data remains secure and is not used to discriminate. Meanwhile, companies with international workforces face a much broader set of challenges, as employee privacy may be treated in fundamentally different ways both legally and culturally compared to the circumstances that exist in the United States.

Please join John L. Barlament and Gary R. Clark as they provide an overview of various employee privacy issues that arise in the workplace, and strategies for employers to manage those situations while mitigating the risk of a privacy breach and related liability.

Time: 9:30  10:45 a.m. CT

Who Should Attend: This seminar is designed for in-house counsel, human resources professionals, and other interested corporate executives.

We will apply for 1.5 hours of continuing legal education credit in Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Virginia, and Wisconsin. We will issue a Certificate of Attendance to Arizona attendees as the State Bar of Arizona does not approve or accredit CLE activities for the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education requirement.

If you are member of another jurisdiction that does not honor CLE credit from AZ, FL, IL, IN, VA, or WI, we will be happy to provide the materials needed in order for you to apply for CLE credit. Please contact Donna Key, our CLE coordinator, at donna.key@quarles.com.
