Janine M. Landow-Esser Receives President’s Award from The Night Ministry

News Release

CHICAGO, ILL. — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP today announced that Janine M. Landow-Esser, a partner in the firm’s Chicago office, has received the President’s Award from The Night Ministry. She was honored at The Night Ministry’s 2014 Lighting Up the Night Awards Dinner & Auction on June 3 in Chicago.

“I’m grateful to be recognized and appreciated by NM,” said Landow-Esser, “but it is NM itself that deserves the credit for lighting up the night.”

Landow-Esser was honored for her extraordinary commitment to Chicago’s homeless and at-risk adults and youth. She has been a volunteer with The Night Ministry for almost nine years, since she was asked to organize a group of volunteers from the Anshe Emet Synagogue, of which she is a member. Over the years, she has grown the list of volunteers from the synagogue to more than 60, who now serve meals, bake, collect toiletries, donate clothing and perform other services for The Night Ministry. Landow-Esser has also received support from Quarles & Brady through its charitable Quarles Cares program. The firm has worked with NM through Landow-Esser for many years by serving dinners to NM clients alongside the NM Health Outreach Bus, collecting money, and donating items.

“Janine represents all that’s best about Quarles & Brady,” said firm chair Kimberly Leach Johnson. “We owe our success and prosperity to the communities we call home, and Janine helps us make that value more than a statement of principle. Her award is justly deserved.”

Landow-Esser concentrates her practice in environmental and OSHA law. She has extensive experience before state and federal agencies and administrative bodies, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Department of Energy and various state regulatory bodies throughout the U.S. Landow-Esser served as a United States representative to the International Energy Agency and was also the chair of the Environmental Law Committee of the Chicago Bar Association. In addition, she is a founding member of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, which she has co-chaired with chairman emeritus John W. Daniels Jr. since 2008. In this role, she has led the firm’s commitment to advance diverse and female attorneys through leadership, dedication and vision regarding Quarles’ strategic growth and diversity climate.

Landow-Esser received her law degree, with honors, from The George Washington University Law School and her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin.
